“The graveyard is the richest place on earth, because it is here that you will find all the hopes and dreams that were never fulfilled, the books that were never written, the songs that were never sung, the inventions that were never shared, the cures that were never discovered, all because someone was too afraid to take that first step, keep with the problem, or determined to carry out their dream.”
Indeed we all need a jolt with a cattle prod at times or little would get done, but it's self motivation that's most difficult. This made me think as time really is all we have.
Rick there is a book or two in you waiting to put pen to paper, if not a library, you've got plenty to tell I'm sure... a deadly read is on the horizon then, I look forward to reading it.
Feels like the right time, plus I'm trying to channel time most of the time I spend in front of a screen into something productive and creative, otherwise I can't justify it to myself anymore. Pen has now been officially put to paper, consistency and time should then deliver the finished work. At least that's the plan. But it will. No going back now.
Very committed statement Rick. You write like you talk. Punctuated. Snappy with lyrical prose. In the context of you signalling the intention of writing a book I think it's a good thing to share your goal. I have found in my life that to keep things to myself however or perhaps just telling a select few helps keep the energy in. So you don't have to spend it convincing people how, or when it's going to be complete, or why! Keep creating content. There will be an audience for it I am sure.
Indeed, the vast majority of what I do and plan to do, I keep to myself but in this instance, it was more to put pressure on myself to carry it through. A man I respect greatly once told me he told the world he would never quit New York City because he knew he would be tempted to do just that, frequently. That statement he made to the world is what kept him in place as he didn’t want to give his critics the opportunity to say he quit. Thanks for the comment Robert.
The other thing you never find when you walk around a grave yard, on the head stones of each person, you will never find their weight, bank account balance or how much time they spent at work etc, also worth considering.
True, although I did see a headstone recently and it stated the occupant of the grave had been a manager at a gas factory for 50 years...titles and military ranks are very common too, although they don't carry across to the 'other side.'
