In this discussion, we examine the fallout of the Australian governments decision to impose a ban on accessing social media for under 16's (on the basis that it would protect them from harm and malevolent influences), the "tabling' of a similar proposal by the UK Labour government, set against a backdrop of a reportedly worsening mental health crisis in the UK.
If implemented it would likely be accompanied by a proposed National Digital ID rollout, as is the case in Australia; leading further data and biometric information gathering which could be weaponised against "dissenters" further down the line.
