As a user of the X platform for just over 2 years now (for free) I have found it to be beneficial as a networking tool and to get concise messages and commentaries out to a sizeable audience quickly and conveniently. However, extreme censorship has plagued the platform over the last 3 years and although some argue that censorship levels have improved, for many the reach and interaction levels they once had are now suppressed by algorithms, unless they pay for the once coveted ‘blue tick.’
Elon Musk is running a business, not a charity; but I firmly believe that as he stated himself, the purchase of Twitter was simply an accelerant to the development of an all encompassing ‘X App’ which you are now witnessing in real time. It’s a data harvesting tool and any further developments will certainly not be made with the users best interests in mind. Due to the addictive nature of social media, many are already scrambling to find potentially viable alternatives, which could be a case of jumping from the frying pan into the fire.
As with all things in life there are pros and cons. Weighing our next moves in the balance before proceeding is essential. Proceed with caution.
